Je vais cesser la paresse et commencer à envoyer des textes sur le Brésil sous peu. En attendant, un petit avertissement pour tous les gens de citoyenneté Canadienne qui veulent aller faire un tour au Brésil. Une nouvelle loi oblige les Canadiens à obtenir un Visa de touriste pour entrer au Brésil avant d'arriver dans le pays. C'est long mais pas très compliqué. Nous avons fais les démarches au consulat du Brésil à Dakar pendant que nous étions au Sénégal. Dans le cas ou un équipage arrive sans les visas, le bateau sera saisit, il y aura une amende à payer et les gens sans visa devrons retourner au Canada faire les papiers appropriés avant de revenir prendre possession du bateau. Ils donnent 36 heures pour quitter le pays donc j'imagine que les billets d'avion ne seront pas bon marché. Nous le savons car il y a présentement un bateau canadien qui est retenu à Salvador. C'est apparemment tout nouveau donc il faut faire attention. Nous n'avons eu aucun problème à entrer avec le visa. De plus, on nous avait dit que pour obtenir un 30 jours supplémentaire, il fallait quitter le pays et revenir. Ça n'a pas été le cas. Nous avons obtenu une extension facilement en allant à l'aéroport de Salvador.

I will stop being lazy very shortly and start writing information on Brazil but for the moment, I have a warning for any Canadian that wants to travel to Brazil. A new law requires us to obtain a tourist visa to enter Brazil before arriving in the country. It's not very complicated to obtain but it takes a while. We did ours at the Brazilian consulate in Dakar while in Senegal. If a crew were to arrive in Brazil without the proper visa, the boat would be seized, there would be a fine to pay and the crew would have to go back to Canada to get the proper paperwork done before they could come back and take possession of the boat again. They give about 36 hours to leave the country so the last minute plain tickets will not be cheap. We know this because there is a Canadian boat that has been seized in Salvador a few weeks ago. Apparently this is a new procedure so we have to be careful. When applying for the visa, we were told that in order to get an extension from 90 days to 180 days we would need to leave the country for a day after the fist 90 days. It turns out that they extended our stay without leaving just by going to the Salvador airport.
