Trinidad & Quebec

I’m falling far behind! So much that I’m no longer convinced that I’ll ever catch up. So I’m thinking I should write about the present as well as the past until I’m up to date or I’ll get discourage and quit the blog. So we are presently in Trinidad. The boat is out of the water and we have been working hard at installing a new septic tank, alarm system, auto-pilot and fixing up the paint and a broken kitchen drain. We hired some local workers to redo the antifouling paint and they did a good job. Chagaramas is a good place to stop and work on the boat because they are well equipped. We can also easily get parts. What can’t be found here can be imported tax free. However, one should not expect to pay less here than anywhere else like is says in most guide books. Some things are cheaper but others are the same price as in Canada. We choose Coral Cove marina because it is cheaper than the others and there is more space in between the boats. The Internet however is very expensive and slow. At night, we either enjoy some of the local cuisine or we B

BQ on the side of the pool with the crews from Grainedo, Ercolausa, Vagabon, Rosine, Out of Africa, ... For the food lovers, we tried two typical dishes; Bake & Shark and Roti. The first is like a hamburger but the beef is replaced by fried shark. It is served with many sauces but to get the full experience all the sauces have to be added to the sandwich. The roti is a mix of potatoes and beans cooked in curry sauce. It is served on a type of pancake and meat can be added to it. Both meals were excellent.

We have just gotten back from a 16 days trip to Montreal. Or should we say a two week marathon to see as many people as we could and eat way too much food. We were tired at the end of the trip but very happy to have seen all of our loved ones. This trip would not have been as much
of a success if not for the generosity and kindness of Gaston’s sister Danielle. She took care of finding us a place to stay (her daughter’s house) and lent us a car (her husbands). She also stayed available to us if we needed anything making our trip even more enjoyable. She even organised a New Year dîner. Thank you Danielle! We love you! ;) We would also like to thank: Lorraine & Louis for the trip to Baskatong, Nicole and Marcel for the loud welcoming at the airport, Karin for all our visits to Drummondville, the Girls for my B-day diner, Eric for the peanut butter dumplings and sushi, Jojo1 for breakfast and Jojo2 for tea in Mont-Tremblant, Nicole for the nice Diner and the David, Celine in particular for the warm welcome in Saint-Sauveur.

We are planning on staying here another week or so. We should slack off on the work now and maybe do a bit of tourism. After that, we will be heading back to Tobago. We can find below the three final articles on Brazil.
