The Start!
We set off from Contrecoeur Marina on Tuesday, July 5th 2010. We are presently resting in Grande-Bergeronne which is est of Tadoussac. Trip in between the two was all done on engin power. The wind was either missing or coming from the wrong direction.A north-estern wind which was not annonced on the weather chanel kept us up most of last night while we were anchered next to Bellechasse Island. However, navigating is easy compared to all the work we had to do before leaving. We had the boat sandblasted for 12 hours just to see half the work wasted by a storm which left rust spots all over the bridge and forced us to sandblast again two days later. Both days, we ended up not going to bed until 4 or 6 am just so we could apply the paint before the rust started eating away at the steel. Leaving a house that Gaston had been living in for more than 13 years and I for more than 6 years was not an easy task either. Yet we accomplish it in 5 days all the while fill up a hudge trash container. Other than repainting the boat, we have added two solar pannels, a fresh water maker, bigger air vents, two opening port-holes and a waste water tank. We have changed the engin, redone the electrical wiring, made some changes to the plumbing, changed the windows, painted the hull and more. These changes were made on top of everything else we had done in the past 4 years. We would like to thank Guy & Annette, Henri & Carol et Karine for all the help. Without them we would probably still be in Rougemont. Thank you to Eric for the use of his web server and Louis for helping with the on board pharmacy. Thanks to all who sent their wishes, all that came to visit us before we left and all how offered us nice presents. Sorry if our departure seemed quick but we have to get to the Ocean before the Hurrican season starts.
