Il est 3h30 du matin et mon quart de cette première nuit s'achève. Si j'écris, c'est que la houle anticipée n'y est pas et le mal de mer non plus. L'adaptation se fait tranquillement. Sinon, tout ce passe comme prévu. Le départ de Panama, pour aller vers le nord, se complique du fait que le vent courbe pour venir du nord au nord-est dans ce secteur. Directement dans le pif. Par ailleurs, il est possible de choisir une journée de calme et faire de l'est au moteur pour rejoindre le secteur de la mer des Caraïbes où le vent souffle du secteur est. Un vent thermique du sud c'est levé vers 21h nous permettant quand même de faire un 4h de voile au travers. Il est mort juste avant le levé de la demie-lune comme souvent. Le ciel plutôt bouché au début où c’est formé une petite trombe d'eau est devenu partiellement dégagé au courant de la nuit. Nous pouvions entrevoir les étoiles. Le couché de soleil couvert n’était pas visible mais, le ciel est quand même devenu tout rose avant de passer au jaune et au orange. Peu de trafic de cargo et aucun pêcheur. On se croirait seul au monde. Le plan est de continuer ainsi jusqu'à environ la hauteur de Carthagena, Colombie avant de mettre le cap vers le nord. Outre le bruit du moteur, c'est que du bonheur.

It's 3h30 am and my shift for the first night is about to finish. If I am writing this it means that the swell we anticipated is not there and I am not suffering from sea sickness. The adaptation is gradual. Other than that, everything is happening as planned. Leaving Panama is complicated by the fact that the wind curb from NE to N in this sector. Straight on the nose. It is however possible to wait for a calm day and motor along the coast towards the San Blas or Colombia to catch easterlies. A thermal wind from the south rose around 21h allowing us to sail for 4 hours with a side wind. It died just before the coming out of the half-moom as it often does. The sky that was mostly covered when we left cleared to partially cloudy at night. We got to see some stars. The sundown was covered but the sky became pink and then yellow and orange before the night came. Very little cargo trafic and no fisherman. Feels like we are the only ones in the world. The plan is to continue like this to about the front of Carthagena, Colombia before we head North. Other than the sound of the engin, it's pure happiness.
