Je commence à penser qu'une petite traversée dans les alizés serait bien plus amusante; entre les Canaries et les Antilles par exemple. Petits ajustements des voiles en ciseaux au départ pis une vingtaine de jours plus tard, tu sirotes un ti-punch les pieds dans le sable sans avoir trop travaillé entre les deux. Ben là, c'est pas ça! Pas de vent, trop de vent, pas de vent, trop de vent... Dans le pif, sur le derrière, dans le pif, sur le derrière... Faudrait se brancher! Avec une mer qui nous envoie promener d'un bord et de l'autre. Malgré tout, on se disait que Belle Ourse prend bien la grosse houle au portant. Nous avons eu du SO d'une vingtaine de noeuds jusqu'à dans la nuit. Le bateau avançait à 6 noeuds de moyenne avec des pointes jusqu'à 9 noeuds. On a fait beaucoup de chemin! Par ailleurs, il est en train de mourir. Une autre journée de pétole s'annonce. Idéalment, nous aurions fait plus d'Est mais nous n'avons pas de tangon pour faire du vent arrière. À ajouter sur la liste des choses à acheter. Nous avons vu une baleine sauté. Un peu loin pour savoir quoi comme baleine... rorqual ou bleu peut-être.

I'm starting to think that a nice crossing in the tradewinds would be nice; between the Canaries and the West Indies for example. Althought, going downwind in big waves today, we found Belle Ourse to be taking it quite well. We had a SW wind up to 20 knots until late in the night. The boat did an average speed of 6 knots but went up to 9 knots. We covered lots of ground (or sea)! Now, it's dying. It will be another day without wind. We would of like to go more east but we do not have a boom to hold the front sail open so we can't go straight downwind. On the list of things to buy. We saw a whale jump. A bit far to make out the what species.
