Nous nous demandions ce matin pourquoi le bateau se traînait malgré la quinzaine de noeuds de vent au portant (NO). L'essaie d'un petit coup de moteur en marche arrière nous a montré que notre hélice et notre safran étaient bourrés d'algues sargasses. La vitesse a augmenté beaucoup après l'opération qui a dû être répétée de nouveau en fin d'après-midi. Faut croire que cette mer porte bien son nom. Nous avons passé les Bermudes à 100 mn cet avant-midi. Nous en avons aussi profité pour faire un cap plus est que nécessaire en prévision d'un autre coup de vent du NE annoncé pour cette nuit et dans lequel nous nous trouvons présentement. Le vent a commencé à tourner en début de nuit à une quinzaine de noeuds. Belle-Ourse fait à nouveau du près avec un cap vers le NO. Vers 2h00 du matin, le vent est monté tout d'un coup à 20-25 noeuds avec rafales jusqu'à 30 noeuds. Apparemment, ce coup de vent ne devrait pas durer bien longtemps. Çs souffle toujours plus que ce qui est annoncé dans les fichiers météo. Nous avons seulement une partie du génois de déroulé avec l'artimon à 1 ris et la GV affalée et avançons à 5-6 noeuds. Pour aller en ligne droite, il faudrait prendre l'avion.

We were wondering this morning why we were not going faster considering we had about 15 knots of wind from behind (NO). We decided to try going backward with the engin to see what would happen. Turns out our propeller and rudder where full of sargasso seaweed. Big difference in speed after this operation which needed to be repeated at the end of the afternoon. Guess this sea was named well. We passed Bermuda at 100 mn late this morning. We also used the wind we had to head as much East as possible because another high pressure with NE wind was predicted for tonight. This is what we are in the middle of at the moment. The wind started to turn early in the night to 15 knots. Belle Ourse is now back to going upwind and heading NW. At 2h am, the wind went up suddenly to 20-25 knots with gusts to 30 knots. Apparently, this one shouldn't last very long. Part of our geneker is rolled up, the misen sail is up with 1 reef and the main sheet is down. We are moving at 5-6 knots. If one wants to go in a straight line, one must take a plane.
